NIGER STATE TRAINS 930 CHIPS PERSONNEL IN 9 LGAs

CHIPS program is a child of neccessity born out to revolutionalize the health sector in Niger State. It aimed to bridge & 6existing gaps that will change the current narratives towards improvement of health care service delivery in the State.
Aisha Garba paiko, who is the CHIPS Coordinator, said  these two days meeting organized by NSPHCDA with the support of Malaria Consortium is necessary and timely because, it will help policy makers to ascertain the effectiveness of the CHIPS program in the state. The aim of the meeting is purposely, to achieve the following specific objectives listed below:

1. To review the M&E framework for Niger State
2. To review the DQA SOP and checklist for CHIPS
3. To review the performance monitoring plan for CHIPS
4. To discuss other M&E processes and program updates
The meeting was well attended by the senior staff of NSPHCDA which includes: the Director Food and Drugs, Director Disease Control and Immunization, Director Planning Research and Statistic, Director Community Health Services and Director M&E SMOH amongst others.
The Executive Director NSPHCDA Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Dangana, ably represented by Pharmacist Ndanusa Babandako Usman, the Director Food and Drugs (Dan Tsaduyan Nupe), welcomed the participants and declared the meeting session opened in day one.
At the meeting, the CHIPS Coordinator disclosed that Niger State has trained 930 CHIPS personnelas listed below:
CHIPS AGENTs= 620
SCHEWS = 62
WFPs = 62
OICs = 62
CEFPs =124
 Total =930 

These personnel were drawn from nine (9) LGAs  based on the three geopolitical zones in the state namely: 
Agaie, Lapai, Mokwa (Zone A), Paikoro, Rafi, Gurara (Zone B) and Mariga, Mashegu, Borgu (Zone C).

After fruitful deliberations, the two days meeting came to an end with some resolutions that will guide NSPHCDA to effectively pilot the affairs of CHIPS program in the State.

The resolutions are:

1. CHIPS program implementation tracker = 2nd week of March 2021

2. CHIPS program lunching/flag off, scheduled for 9th or 11th March 2021

3. Sorting of  CHIPS agents accounts

4  Development and institutionalization of supportive supervision system = 3rd week of March 2021

5. CHIPS M&E framework and plan = 4th week of March 2021.

After taking the resolutions, the national anthem was observed, which signifies the end of the two days meeting.
