SDG HAND OVER ANOTHER HEALTH FACILITY TO SMOH AND NSPHCDA AT GAWU BABANGIDA, GURARA LGA
Niger state health sector is on the news again with another success story as we witness another handing over ceremony of primary health care facility initiated by ALGON and duly completed by SDG Niger State. The handing over ceremony was graced with dignitaries from Niger state ministry of health, NSPHCDA, SDG and members of Gawu community. The Director General of SDG, Niger state Alh. Abdullahi Baba Arah, said in his opening speech that he took over the abandoned project because of its strategic significance to the people of Gawu community and to fulfill the campaign promises of his Excellency Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello the executive governor of Niger state. He then, appealed to the people of Gawu community to ensure adequate maintenance of the facility. The commissioner of health who was ably represented by Dr. Mohammed Gana the permanent secretary ministry of health, asked the people of Gawu community to take ownership of the facility. In his remark, he advocated for strict compliance to COVID 19 safety protocols. Thereafter, he then, requested the council chairman of Gurara LGA to add value to the facility by interlocking the surrounding areas of the facility. Meanwhile, the Executive Director NSPHCDA in his speech, thanked the DG of SDG and his team for their unrelenting efforts and support to primary health care development in Niger state. He gave an insight to the basic health care provision funds, where he said one facility in each ward across the 274 wards in Niger state was selected as a focal health facility and the selected facilities will be given certain amounts of money to maintain and provide services at the facility effectively. Thereafter, he expressed his appreciation for the unprecedented efforts of SDG for building 24 health care facilities across 24 LGAs in Niger state. Finally, the occasion came to an end through a vote of thanks delivered by the Dagachin Gawu Babangida community. In his speech after thanking the dignitaries that witnessed the occasion, he seized that moment and requested on behalf of the Gawu Babangida community for deployment of services of at least, two medical doctors that will be attached to the facility for effective health service delivery. He then, promised to bestow a traditional title to honour the DG of SDG for his contributions towards development of Gawu Babangida Community and Niger state as a whole.
